The recruitment process has too many moving parts, even for very small teams. As a recruiter, I truly believe that getting hiring wrong can really slow down a company and, sometimes, have catastrophic consequences.<\/p>\n<p>My views on hiring are summed up neatly in the following quotes:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>\u201cGreat vision without great people is irrelevant\u201d<br \/>\n\u2013 Jim Collins<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong><em>\u201cYou need to have a collaborative hiring process.\u201d<br \/>\n\u2013\u00a0Steve Jobs<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Over the course of my career, I have done hiring work for around 50 different companies. I can say from experience that most people in my field are still relying on traditional tools and resources for their work. I myself have spent a good deal of time grappling with clunky spreadsheets loaded with inordinate amounts of data. Back then, I used to frequently find that these spreadsheets, aimed at making my job easier, in fact slowed me down.<\/p>\n<p>Still, with no better system in sight, I continued using a rudimentary database to track new inquiries and record key points discussed with clients. I never quite had a good system to track my network \u2013 my personal candidate database that I\u2019ve built over many years. These are the people who I\u2019m always enlisting \u2013 whether or not I\u2019m working on an active job opening \u2013 so that I have a group of people ready to go in case a position opens up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>My introduction to Orgzit<br \/>\n<\/strong>When I began working for Orgzit co-founders Nitin and Pavan, they were already using Orgzit to manage their engineering services company Spans Envirotech\u2019s projects. When they made it compulsory for everyone on their team to use Orgzit for internal processes, including working on hiring requirements, I was rather peeved. I\u2019m not very tech savvy and had neither time nor inclination to learn how to use a new IT product.<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019ve now been using <a href=\"https:\/\/orgzit.com\/product\/\">Orgzit<\/a> for nearly 6 months, and have to say that I\u2019m pleasantly surprised by how easily I\u2019ve been able to adapt to the tool and how much I\u2019m enjoying using it. Beats using those unwieldy spreadsheets any day!<\/p>\n<p>Before I begin explaining how I\u2019ve used Orgzit to streamline my recruitment tasks, I want you to know that although this system has worked wonders for me \u2013 it\u00a0doesn&#8217;t mean that the exact system will be the best fit for you. The best thing about Orgzit is that you can completely customize it as per your unique needs. So feel free to modify my framework for your particular hiring needs and processes. To manage my work in Orgzit,\u00a0I have four lists (<a href=\"https:\/\/orgzit.freshdesk.com\/support\/solutions\/articles\/17000043481-how-to-create-an-app\">apps<\/a>) in a shared space (project). These apps are <a href=\"https:\/\/orgzit.com\/launchers\/\">pre-built Orgzit library apps<\/a> that come fully set up. You don\u2019t need to worry about creating them on your own. The app names are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Job Openings<\/li>\n<li>Candidates<\/li>\n<li>Interviews<\/li>\n<li>Standard Documents<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Additionally, I have a separate\u00a0custom app called <strong>My Network<\/strong> \u2013 my list of potential candidates. This app contains candidate names, roles, latest r\u00e9sum\u00e9s, salary data and other relevant fields.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s how I\u2019ve been using Orgzit for my recruitment operations:<\/p>\n<p>My first step was to create an Orgizt Workspace called <strong>Recruitment<\/strong>. Within this project, I installed Orgzit\u2019s recruitment library apps.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">1. I use the <strong>Job Openings table <\/strong>to record open positions, job descriptions, and other details regarding the openings. For the sake of easy <a href=\"https:\/\/orgzit.freshdesk.com\/support\/solutions\/articles\/17000043773-applying-filters-and-sorting-records\">filtering<\/a>, I use a category field to indicate whether the position is open or closed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">2. The <strong>Candidates<\/strong> table contains candidate names, their work experience, resumes, and other information. I use a <a href=\"https:\/\/orgzit.freshdesk.com\/support\/solutions\/articles\/17000044491-app-relationships\">relationship field<\/a> called \u201cRelated Job Opening\u201d to link the candidate names from this app to the vacancies they are applying for in the <strong>Job Openings <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">3. My third table, <strong>Interviews<\/strong>, captures names of interviewees, and interview dates and times. I use the <a href=\"https:\/\/orgzit.com\/product\/\">relationship feature<\/a> to link job opening title and candidate name records from the <strong>Job Openings<\/strong> and <strong>Candidates<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">4. I use a last app called <strong>Standard Documents<\/strong> to store contract documents that come in handy whenever a new candidate is hired.<\/p>\n<p>With these apps, I have been able to document all my data in a well-structured, easy to access and understand manner. But that\u2019s not the only benefit I\u2019ve derived from using Orgzit apps.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/KB5J2_TZcXw\" width=\"560\" height=\"314\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; I\u2019ve been sharing my <strong>Recruitment<\/strong> project with my team and clients so they can access the candidate and interview information that I want to share with them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; At the same time, I\u2019ve been easily able to hide from my client\u2019s view fields such as salary data, which I might need to keep confidential, by using relevant field attributes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">&#8211; Instead of keeping track of information over email \u2013 always a tedious process \u2013 everyone can communicate via my Orgzit project and access the same, latest data at any given point of time.
